So where did the GSW crest come from? There wasn’t too much originality when it came to GSW.
Sheet Metal Products (SMP). Not a cast iron hollow ware manufacturer, but an important addition to GSW and Canadiana in general. SMP came to life in 1911 when Kemp Mfg. Co. acquired Macdonald Mfg. and changed their name to The Sheet Metal Products Co. Ltd. 20 year life span. Kemp trademarked the “crest” logo – that was assumed by SMP.
It seems around 1931/32, GSW was dealing with hard ships from the great depression and made major changes to survive. SMP went bye bye and GSW assumed the crest of the SMP logo. The “Pearl” is an example of one of their trademarks – carried on by GSW.
It’s interesting to see their aluminum pieces.
