Wirco – Wrought Iron Range – Toronto
Been working on American and Canadian connections for a while now. Not really a connection but what the heck, interesting no less.
Wrought Iron Range (WIRCO), large American company known for the “Home Comfort” range moves into Toronto, Canada in 1918. They bought out Barnum Wire and Iron Works. I would love to know if they ever produced hollow ware here. There is a cast iron kettle for WIRCO Toronto, but it’s unknown if they were made here or in the USA.
I have an antique French Fry Maker/Press made by Wrought Iron Range Co.Ltd. Canada Toronto … I just finished restoring it and would love to have any information that anyone could provide about this company, and more specifically, this item. Have lots of pictures that I can provide.
hi i am with the maidstone museum located in maidstone sk, our museum has a wrought iron range in its collection and i am tring to find a date it was made any help would be appreciated
Unfortunately, there isn’t much on Wirco in Canada. They set up shop in 1918, but I haven’t really dug into it.
I have a WIRCO water cooler … I have never seen one like this before. I’ll try to post a pic
