On Cast Iron Restoration
« on: September 09, 2018, 08:42:59 pm »
Many people when starting out want to clean their pieces fast and painless. But to that end, many people end up ruining old antique pieces and essentially destroy the collector value - not to mention a piece of history. I have my own ruined pieces on my wall of shame.

Please do NOT promote the following restoration methods within this forum.
- Heat-based using fire, BBQ and Self Cleaning Oven.
- Wire brushes
- Sandblasting.

Yes, older generations used heat based methods to strip their iron - but they were not collectors and it's the very reason why we see so many warped pieces.
